SMS Login – Passwordless Authentication with SMS

Magic Login PRO enhances the user authentication experience by allowing users to receive login links via SMS instead of email. This feature helps streamline the login process, making it faster and more user-friendly, especially for mobile users.

📌 Features #

  • SMS-Based Authentication – Users can log in using a one-time link sent via SMS.
  • Phone Number Storage – Save user phone numbers for seamless future logins.
  • Multiple SMS Strategies – Choose different sending strategies for login requests.
  • Customizable SMS Messages – Modify the SMS content with placeholders.
  • Registration Integration – Add phone number fields to registration forms.
  • Automatic Welcome SMS – Send an SMS upon user registration.

Enabling SMS Login #

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard > Magic Login PRO > Settings > SMS.
  2. Enable the “Enable SMS Login” toggle.
  3. This allows users to receive login links (or login code) via SMS

Configuring SMS Sending Strategy #

Magic Login PRO provides three SMS sending strategies:

  1. Send SMS only when the user enters a phone number
    • Users must enter their phone number at login.
  2. If the user has a phone number linked, send both SMS and email
    • Users receive login links via both methods.
  3. Send SMS if the user has a linked phone number, otherwise fallback to email
    • Users without a linked phone number receive login links via email.

Customizing the SMS Message #

You can customize the SMS content that users receive by using supported placeholders. We suggest keeping SMS content shorter than 300 characters.

Adding a Phone Number Field to Registration Forms #

  1. Enable “Add a phone number field to WordPress registration”
    • Requires enabling WordPress membership under Settings > General.
  2. Enable “Add a phone number field to Magic Login registration”
    • Adds a phone number field for new user sign-ups.

Send SMS After Registration (Optional) #

  • When enabled, Magic Login PRO will automatically send a confirmation SMS when a user registers with a phone number.

✅ Benefits of Using Magic Login SMS #

✔️ Faster Login Experience – Users receive instant SMS login links – or login code.
✔️ Mobile-Optimized – No need to check emails for login.
✔️ Flexible – Supports fallback options to email.

With Magic Login SMS PRO, your users can enjoy a seamless, passwordless login experience via SMS. 🚀
